Hoi An is a town that makes awful train journeys worth taking. The old town is a World Heritage Site with buildings from the 15th century onwards. There are bright blooming flowers everywhere, and buildings are covered in lanterns both inside and out. It's famous for its monthly lantern festivals where the river is full of lanterns but unfortunately we're not here at the right time to see that. I guess we'll just have to come back.
